On November 20, Bauman University greeted the finalists of the championship held on the II International forum “Key Trends in Composites: Science and Technologies”. Composite Battle VR is the first world hackathon for schoolchildren and professionals, which focuses on the use of augmented and virtual reality in engineering education.
The competition united people from more than 20 countries of Europe and the CIS. The winner of the Junior Composite Battle became Ivan Artyukhovich (Minsk, Belarus). Yuri Hostich (Zagreb, Croatia) took the second place, Julia Zakladni (Berlin, Germany) — the third place. The young participants found out more about the composite engineering and got career guidance through experience.
As for the professional league, there were a number of nominations and teams. Among the leaders are Hungary, Tatarstan and Myanmar. The absolute winner is the team from Cairo, Egypt.
Vladimir Nelyub, Director of the Intersectoral Engineering Center “Composites of Russia” (BMSTU) and the head of the project, noted that the technology of manufacturing composites in a virtual format will allow any educational institution to create products without purchasing expensive equipment and materials.
He mentioned: “For several years now we have been educating schoolchildren, students and working professionals. We understand that modern educational trends require new approaches to learning. Our team has developed a unique application, and we are the first in the world to start holding such championships, hackathons, workshops on composites in VR”.
